Solar Appointments vs Solar Leads: Which Should UK Installers Buy? (2026)

Forhad Sarker · ·
An enquiry envelope and an appointment calendar show the difference between a lead and a booking.

Buy a lead when your team wants to handle the initial conversation; consider an appointment service when you want that booking work included. Compare the qualification, attendance terms and full acquisition cost before deciding.

PoweredLeads supplies solar enquiries. This guide explains the trade-offs without assuming our product is the right answer for every installation team.

The product difference

A solar lead is an enquiry supplied for your staff to contact. A solar appointment is a confirmed time under the appointment seller’s terms, usually following a qualification conversation. It may be a telephone consultation, video call or on-site survey; specify which.

A booked slot does not guarantee attendance, technical suitability or a completed job. An enquiry does not promise any appointment at all.

Compare the cost per completed job

Use all paid units and completed jobs from the same group. Include your calling, survey and travel costs. If an appointment is charged when booked, do not silently exclude no-shows from the cost calculation.

Here is a fictional comparison, not a price quote or expected conversion result:

  • 20 paid appointments at £120 cost £2,400. If four become completed jobs, purchase cost is £600 per job.
  • 80 paid leads at £30 also cost £2,400. If four become completed jobs, purchase cost is also £600 per job.

The purchase costs match, but calling time, attendance, travel and contribution can differ. If either group produces only two jobs, its purchase cost becomes £1,200 per job. Faster calling alone cannot establish which product will win.

Our solar cost guide provides the full calculation. The supplier comparison includes dated advertised offers; compare complete current proposals rather than substituting a starting figure into your budget.

Questions for an appointment supplier

  1. Is this a sales call or an on-site technical survey?
  2. What did the homeowner request, and which company do they expect to meet?
  3. Which property, ownership, timing and service-area checks were performed?
  4. Is the slot confirmed by both the homeowner and your team?
  5. Who handles cancellation, rescheduling and reminders?
  6. What is charged if the customer does not attend or the appointment misses the agreed criteria?
  7. How many installers receive the enquiry or visit the property?
  8. How can staff see the qualification answers before travelling?

A claim that an appointment is exclusive needs a defined scope. It cannot stop the homeowner independently choosing to seek other quotations.

Match the purchase to real capacity

An installer who works on site may need help making initial calls. Appointment setting can address that task, but the installer still needs capacity for surveys, proposals and follow-up after the meeting.

Conversely, a team with good calling coverage may prefer to qualify the customer and arrange its own surveys. Neither team should buy more enquiries or appointments than it can handle properly.

Use a test record to verify delivery into the actual staff inbox or system. Record who owns the next step, and distinguish an unanswered enquiry, a cancelled appointment, a lost quote and a completed installation in reporting.

What PoweredLeads offers

Our standard solar product is an enquiry under the published acceptance checks, with replacement if it misses that standard. Solar leads start from £45 per accepted lead. Prices vary with order size and repeat orders. Get your lead options to see your price. Appointment booking is not included in that price.

Agree area, order size, delivery and the practical handover before buying. You can also discuss heat pump lead supply and managed advertising or website services through the same business relationship, with separate service criteria.

Send your installer requirements for a proposal. The form does not buy a lead, book a homeowner appointment or reserve an area.

PoweredLeads lead blocks supply homeowner enquiries for your team to contact. See exactly what our solar leads include before comparing them with appointment prices.
